How these scores work
Every fit score is computed from this site's card data by a fixed formula, so it can be reproduced. Four weighted components add up to 100: the card's earn rate in its category (45), its welcome bonus value (20), its annual fee (20), and how easy it is to qualify for (15). Earn is converted to an effective return using estimated point values, for example Membership Rewards and Aeroplan at 1.5¢, Marriott Bonvoy at 0.9¢, BMO Rewards at 0.67¢, and TD Rewards at 0.5¢ per point, so a 5x card and a 1.25x card sit on the same scale. Membership Rewards is valued at 1.5¢ assuming a transfer to Aeroplan. Where a welcome offer is variable or unpublished, that component is scored neutral, and the annual fee component uses the listed fee before any rebate. Click any score to open its full breakdown. Scores compare cards within a category, not across them: a flat-rate flexible card and a premium lounge card are measured against different ideals, so a 60 in one table is not worse than an 80 in another.
Best for flexible, transferable points
American Express Membership Rewards transfer to Aeroplan and other airline and hotel partners, so the points are not locked to one program. Best for businesses that want to keep their options open.

Common questions
What is the best business credit card in Canada?
It depends on how the business spends. For flexible, transferable points the American Express Business Edge tops our ranking: 3x Membership Rewards on restaurants, transit, and gas for an $89 fee, with points that transfer to Aeroplan and other partners. For Air Canada flyers the CIBC Aeroplan Visa Business Plus leads the airline group on a larger welcome bonus and a rebated fee. For wide travel booking the TD Business Travel Visa scores highest on its 9x Expedia earn and large opening bonus.
Do business credit cards require personal income?
Generally no. The leading Canadian business cards from American Express, TD, CIBC, RBC, BMO, and Scotiabank do not list a personal income minimum. Approval is based on business eligibility rather than a stated personal income, which is why these cards score full marks on access here. You typically need a registered business or sole proprietorship.
What is the best low-fee business credit card in Canada?
Among rewards-earning business cards the American Express Business Edge has the lowest fee at $89 a year while earning 3x Membership Rewards on restaurants, transit, and gas. The BMO Rewards Business Mastercard waives its $150 fee for the first year. Both avoid a personal income requirement and earn transferable or flexible travel points.
