How these scores work
Every fit score is computed from this site's card data by a fixed formula, so it can be reproduced. Four weighted components add up to 100: the card's Air Canada earn rate (45), its welcome bonus value (20), its annual fee (20), and how easy it is to qualify for (15). Because all three cards earn the same currency, earn is converted to an effective return using a single Aeroplan value of 1.5¢ per point, so a 3x card and a 2x card sit on the same scale. Air Canada spend is the common yardstick since it is the category every Aeroplan card bonuses. The annual fee component uses the listed fee before any rebate, so a card that rebates its fee still shows its sticker cost here and the rebate is noted alongside. Welcome bonus and the fee rebate
The CIBC Aeroplan Visa Business Plus and the TD Aeroplan Visa Business earn Aeroplan at exactly the same rates, so the ranking turns on overhead, not points. CIBC pairs a larger welcome bonus, up to 75,000 points across staged spend thresholds, with a $120 fee that is rebated for the first two years. TD lists a $149 fee and a smaller opening bonus. Over the first two years, that gap is the single biggest difference between them, which is why CIBC leads. Note that the CIBC fee rises to $139 from August 1, 2026.
See it worked out: TD vs CIBC Aeroplan business
The two cards' earn, fees, and waived first year run side by side on real business spend.
The Amex Aeroplan Business Reserve plays a different game. It earns 3x on Air Canada rather than 2x, the highest in the group, and adds Maple Leaf Lounge access and a Priority Pass. The $599 fee zeroes out its fee score, but for an owner who flies Air Canada often and values the lounge, the earn rate and travel perks can outweigh the sticker cost. It scores within a point of the TD card for that reason.

What the jump from the $149 TD card to the Reserve's lounge access and 3x earn actually buys.
