Earn rates

Travel booked online through Expedia For TD earns 9x points. Dining, EV charging, public transit, streaming and digital media, recurring bill payments, and foreign-currency purchases all earn 6x, up to a combined $80,000 in net annual spend, after which they earn the 2x base rate. Every other business purchase earns 2x. Points are worth 200 to the dollar against travel booked on Expedia For TD, so 9x works out to about 4.5% back and the 2x base to about 1%.

Travel insurance

  • Trip cancellation: up to $1,500 per person
  • Trip interruption: up to $5,000 per person
  • Flight and trip delay: up to $500
  • Delayed and lost baggage: up to $1,000 per person
  • Common carrier accident: up to $500,000

Good fit if

  • You run a business that books travel through Expedia For TD, where the 9x rate and the up-to-200,000-point welcome bonus return the most value.
  • You cannot meet the personal income test on a Visa Infinite card. This card has no income requirement.
  • You want a flat 2x floor on all business spending, so categories that earn 1x on most cards still earn double here.

Less useful if

  • You book travel directly with airlines and hotels rather than through Expedia For TD, where the top rates do not apply.
  • You want transferable points for premium-cabin redemptions. The TD Rewards points here are worth about 0.5¢ each on travel, not the higher value of airline miles.
  • You are a sole proprietor with modest spend. The personal TD First Class Travel Visa Infinite may earn comparably with a lower fee.
