Earn rates

The card earns at a flat 1.25x rate on all eligible purchases with no category restrictions and no earn cap. This distinguishes it from the personal RBC Avion Visa Infinite, which earns 1.25x only on travel and 1x on everything else. For a business where most spending falls outside of travel — office supplies, subscriptions, vendor payments, meals — the flat elevated rate means every dollar earns at the higher tier.

Spending category Earn rate Value per $100 spent
All eligible purchases 1.25 pts / $1 ~$1.25

Value shown at 1 Avion point ≈ $0.01 CAD through the Avion Rewards portal. Transfer to a partner program can return more on the right redemption.

How the business card compares to personal Avion cards

Card Annual fee Earn rate Income requirement
Avion Visa Infinite (personal) $120 1.25x travel · 1x other $60K personal
Avion Visa Business (this card) $175 1.25x all purchases None
Avion Visa Infinite Privilege (personal) $399 1.25x all purchases $200K household

The business card sits between the two personal Avion cards in fee structure. It earns identically to the $399 Privilege on all spending — 1.25x on everything — at a lower annual fee, but without the Privilege’s travel credits or lounge passes. The trade-off is $224 less in fees per year, no income barrier, and a business account structure.

What your monthly spend earns

Monthly business spend $2,500
Category Monthly spend Rate Monthly pts
All eligible purchases $2,500 1.25x 3,125 pts

37,500 pts / year (~$375 in Avion portal travel, $200 net of $175 fee). 1.25% effective return.

Transfer partners

Avion points transfer to the same partner programs available on personal Avion cards. The transfer ratio determines how far points go on each program.

Partner program Transfer ratio Notes
British Airways Executive Club (Avios) 1 Avion : 1 Avios Strong value on short-haul redemptions and Oneworld partners. Fuel surcharges apply on some carriers.
WestJet Rewards 100 Avion : $1 WJD WestJet dollars redeem toward any WestJet fare at face value. Straightforward but lower ceiling than airline mile transfers.

Good fit if

  • Your business wants transferable travel points with no income requirement — the Avion Visa Infinite requires $60,000 personal income; the business card does not.
  • Business spending is spread across diverse categories and you want the 1.25x rate to apply universally, not just to travel bookings.
  • You want flexibility to route points to whichever airline partner has the best redemption at the time — British Airways Avios, American AAdvantage, and Asia Miles each serve different use cases.

Less useful if

  • You fly Air Canada exclusively — a co-branded Aeroplan business card earns Aeroplan directly at higher rates on Air Canada with added Air Canada perks the Avion card does not provide.
  • You fly WestJet and want the dedicated WestJet benefits — the WestJet RBC World Elite Business earns 3x on WestJet spend and includes automatic Silver status.
  • You want lounge access — the Avion Visa Business does not include Priority Pass or any airport lounge benefit; that belongs to the Avion Visa Infinite Privilege at $399.
