Good fit if

  • You want a transferable-currency travel card through RBC, keeping rewards within one banking relationship.
  • You have a specific award target in a partner program, particularly British Airways Avios for short-haul North American routes or Cathay Pacific Asia Miles for premium cabin Asia travel.
  • You want a flexible base: redeem at 1¢/pt through the portal for everyday trips, transfer for bigger-value redemptions when the right award opens up.

Less useful if

  • You want elevated earn on everyday categories like groceries or gas. This card earns 1 pt/$1 on non-travel, which is a modest return at $120/year.
  • You fly Air Canada regularly. Aeroplan offers a deeper partner network and a dynamic award chart with more upside per point.
  • You travel internationally often. Both Avion cards are denominated in Canadian dollars and the earn rate on non-travel spend is modest for the fee.
