What your monthly spend earns

Monthly spend $2,500
Category Monthly spend Rate Monthly pts
WestJet, dining & streaming $500 1.5x 750
All other spending $2,000 1x 2,000
Total $2,500 2,750 pts / mo

33,000 pts / year (~$330 in WestJet travel). ~1.10% effective return on diversified spend. The World Elite earns more at the same spend level, before accounting for its $119 annual fee.

Good fit if

  • You fly WestJet once or twice a year and can realistically hit $2,500 in annual card spend to unlock the companion voucher.
  • You regularly eat out or subscribe to streaming services — the 1.5x rate on dining and digital makes this card earn above its weight on everyday spend.
  • You check bags on WestJet flights. The free bag covers the cardholder and up to 8 companions on every booking.

Less useful if

  • You fly WestJet frequently. The World Elite earns more across more categories — the breakeven versus the $119 fee is typically reached at a modest spend level.
  • You need travel medical or trip cancellation coverage. This card has neither.
  • You travel internationally often. This card has no special benefits for international spending and no waiver of currency conversion costs.
