Porter flies more of the map than most people realize. The BMO VIPorter World Elite earns points on everything you spend and covers the whole group’s bags and seat selection on every booking. Eastern corridor ✈️, Mexico direct 🌴, or Europe via Air Transat 🌍.
Two Porter credit cards. One earns faster and covers the whole group's extras on every booking.
Billy Bishop to Ottawa in under an hour. ✈️ Or YTZ to Montréal for a long weekend in the Plateau. Easy routes, small planes, no checked-bag drama — unless you’re paying for them.
Economy return YTZ–YOW or YTZ–YUL. Redemption based on 22,000 VIPorter pts at ~1.5¢/pt (~$330 value). Bag fee: ~$35/person each way. Seat selection: ~$25/person round trip. World Elite waives both for cardholder + up to 8 companions on same booking. Verified March 2025.
The World Elite card grants Horizon Grand Traveller status instantly. The bag and seat waivers are card benefits, not status perks, so they apply on every booking regardless of how often you fly.
Porter flies direct from Pearson. Cancún for the Caribbean coast 🌴 Puerto Vallarta for the Malecón and Old Town. Los Cabos for the desert meets the Pacific. Pick your beach, bring your group.
Economy return YYZ–CUN, YYZ–PVR, or YYZ–SJD. Redemption based on 50,000 VIPorter pts at ~1.5¢/pt (~$750 value). Porter operates direct service from YYZ to all three destinations. Bag and seat fees estimated from published Porter schedule pricing. Verified March 2025.
Porter doesn’t fly the Atlantic. Air Transat does. 🌍 A March 2025 partnership opened VIPorter redemptions to transatlantic routes — 25,000 pts per person one-way in economy. Paris for the arrondissements and the weekday markets. Lisbon for the tram rides and the pastéis de nata.
Economy OW per person: from 25,000 VIPorter pts. Route examples: YYZ–CDG, YYZ–LIS. Taxes/fees paid separately (~$150–250/person estimated). Points value at ~1.5¢/pt. World Elite 70K welcome bonus covers this 2-person redemption outright at sign-up. Mastercard 40K bonus covers one person; additional ~10,000 pts needed for second seat. Air Transat–VIPorter partnership announced March 2025; rates subject to change.

Spend mix assumed: 15% Porter, 35% grocery/dining/gas/transit/hotels, 50% other. Points valued at 1.5¢/pt. Earn breakeven (earn gap alone covers $110 fee difference): ~$815/mo. Below that threshold, the bag and seat waivers carry the case on their own.
Both cards earn VIPorter points on everyday spending and give access to the same redemption network. The difference is earn speed, welcome bonus size, and who benefits from the travel perks on every booking.

Porter is underrated for everyday Canadian travel. If you’re flying the eastern corridor or heading south, there’s a version of this that works for your trips.
